10 AM Worship Service; The God Of Peace Will Be With You - Music Sunday

This Sunday is one of the most energetic days in the life of First Church - Music Sunday! All 5 vocal and handbell choirs will offer their gifts of music in worship. The focal point this year will be "Rejoice in the Lamb" a 16-minute work by British composer Benjamin Britten sung by The Chancel Choir and accompanied by guest organist Dr. Stephen Rapp. This is the 50th anniversary year of his death and a lot of choirs have been programming his works throughout the year.

May is also Mental Health Awareness Month. I chose to share Britten because of the author of the lyrics Britten chose. Christopher Smart was a brilliant academic from the 1700 and spent about 7 years in an asylum. His poetry is filled with vibrant images and ponderings of biblical characters and animals.

Join us on Sunday and bring a friend! Following worship, we will have our annual berries, croissants, and whipped cream.
